MOBILE — Amnario Gibbs had scoring passes of 55 and 35 yards for to lead Southside to a 20-7 victory in Class 3A, Region 1 action against Cottage Hill.

The Panthers (1-1, 1-0) got a 75-yard touchdown run from James McNeal, who ended the night with 141 yards on 15 attempts. Gibbs scoring passes went to Jarred Daniels and Dantae Alexander.

Cottage Hill (0-1, 0-1) got a fourth-quarter score on Josh Lemley’s 2-yard run.

Brandon Mosley had 12 tackles to lead the Southside defense.

Southside will return home next Friday to welcome another regional opponent, Straughn.

This will mark Southside’s first home game of the season.
