Job well done to those involved with Jubilee

Anyone who spent more than five minutes in downtown Selma Sunday will have to wonder where some media outlets got the estimate that between 3,000 and 4,000 people took part in the Bridge Crossing. Were they just using one eye? Were they just looking at one side of the Edmund Pettus Bridge?

Saturday and Sunday saw thousands upon thousands, of people converge on Selma’s downtown for the annual Bridge Crossing Jubilee, and there is no idea how many took time Sunday afternoon to walk over the Edmund Pettus Bridge.

Regardless of the head count, the initial take on the annual Bridge Crossing Jubilee is that it was an unbridled success and was one that — this year — avoided any interruption from Mother Nature.

Selma’s historic downtown, especially the Water Avenue area, was on full display throughout the weekend and the investment city leaders made on improving the image of downtown paid off.

To all involved, our thanks and job well done.
