Selma, it is your time to give.

Nonprofits from across the state are urging those who can and will to donate monetary gifts to a cause of their choice during Alabama Gives Day, Thursday, Feb. 2.

Sponsored by The Alabama Association of Nonprofits, the Alabama Broadcasters Association and the Razoo Foundation and bringing together hundreds of nonprofits, the event is a first for the state of Alabama. The public can give online by visiting www.alabamagivesday.org.

The Black Belt Community Foundation,  Visually Impaired People Organization Inc., Selma Disabilities Advocacy Program Inc., Christian Services for Children in Alabama Inc., SABRA Sanctuary, ArtsRevive, YMCA of Selma-Dallas County, The Cahaba Foundation,  ATAP Community Development Corporation, Edmundite Missions and the Salvation Army, are just some of the local organizations in need of your monetary contributions.

Nancy Travis of SABRA Sanctuary, a nonprofit domestic violence and sexual assault program, said when it comes to giving, “every little bit helps.”

“I think it’s a great opportunity, for us especially, because funding has been cut,” Travis said. “We’re really excited about the giving that can be done during this day. We invite everyone to get on the computer to SABRA Sanctuary and give at least $10.”
