Founded in 1970, the Alabama Women’s Hall of Fame is housed in the A. Howard Bean Hall on the campus of Judson College in Marion.

Inductees to the hall of fame must have been born in Alabama or made special contributions to the state and have been deceased for two years.

Miglionico, who died in 2009, was born in Birmingham to Italian immigrants.

Miglionico completed her undergraduate education at Howard College (now Samford University) and earned her law degree at the University of Alabama.

At the time of her death, Miglionico was senior partner in the Miglionico & Rumore firm and holds the distinction of being the longest practicing female attorney in the history of Alabama, having served for 73 years.

Miglionico was also the first woman elected to the Birmingham City Council, serving from 1963 to 1985.

Miglionico was an ardent supporter of women’s rights and her progressive views on race made her a target for extremists, with a bomb being found in her home in 1965 and a cross being burned in her yard in 1974.
