Saturday’s stormy weather held off long enough for Meadowview Christian School’s Grandma’s Attic fundraiser to post strong numbers.

Bidders came from all over to bid on everything from furniture and tools to toys and electronics.

Faculty member Traci Kendrick said though this was the first year for the fundraiser, she felt things went very well.

“I think it went well for our first year, especially considering the weather,” she said. “We made several thousand dollars, so I think that was very good for our first time.”

Kendrick said the first go-round should create a little more buzz for next year’s event. When the school organizes its next auction, Kendirck said she anticipates more items and bidders.

“We are looking forward to next year and hoping for better weather,” she said. “I think people know what to expect and more people will come out. We had some really nice things, and I think we can draw even more people next year.”

Bidders arrived at the auction in two separate waves. There was a silent auction during the morning hours in the school’s gym before the regular auction began in the afternoon.

All funds raised from the auctions will go toward Meadowview’s general fund, which helps will facilities maintenance and operational expenses.
