Charles Word Hooper, Jr., 67, died December 10, 2011 in Biloxi, Mississippi. Graveside services will be Saturday, December 17, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at New Live Oak Cemetery. Charles was predeceased by his father, Charles Word Hooper, Sr. and  his mother, Adeline Houghton Hooper. He was from an established Selma family who enjoyed a rich heritage in the community.

Charles graduated from A.G. Parish High School in 1962, where he was active in school activities. He was a lifelong member of the First Presbyterian Church. He had a deep appreciation for Selma’s history, the arts, and cultural fare. Well-known for his kindness and generosity, Charles will be missed among the host of friends and relatives he leaves behind.

Among Charles’ favorite charities were Sturdivant Hall and SABRA Sanctuary. In lieu of flowers make a donation to your favorite charity or Sturdivant Hall or SABRA Sanctuary.
