VALLEY GRANDE — Members of the Valley Grande City Council discussed their future business endeavors during Monday’s meeting at Valley Grande City Hall.

Valley Grande Mayor Tom Lee updated the council on the Overlook Hills sewer project, saying the engineering work is almost complete. Lee said he is waiting on general paperwork in order to move forward. Lee said he hopes to obtain the deed to the property by January.

“We’re just waiting on a deed transfer — all the engineering work is 90 percent done,” Lee said. “We’re ready to go to bid on that project; we went out there Friday to do a few things. When it (the deed) comes to us it will be completely clean.”

The council also discussed a future partnership with Domino’s Pizza in Selma to have it deliver to Valley Grande residents. Councilwoman Donna Downs is working with the corporate office to seal the deal and will present the final outcome at a future meeting.

“I’m calling them this week to finalize plans,” Downs said. “They’re looking to deliver from County Road 81 up (Ala.) Hwy 22 … it’s still up in the air.”

Lee also presented council members with a picture-layout representing the city’s activities to be inserted inside the 2012 Selma-Dallas County Chamber of Commerce Directory.

“Where we get our greatest participation community wise … obviously it’s our Founders Day, our Fourth of July, the things we do in the community with respect to the schools … is kind of the core of what we all talked about at one point,” Lee said. “Valley Grande … is a ‘great place to raise a family’ and basically what we’re all about is a bedroom community. We’re not about attracting a lot of industrial sites and things like that.”

The next scheduled meeting is Monday, Dec. 19 at 7 p.m.
