Maggie James was born September 19, 1927 to Alfred and Vera Davis in Dallas County.  She departed this life on July 20, 2011 at her home.  Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 28, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. at J. H. Williams & Sons Funeral Home, Inc. 1226 Minter Ave. Selma, Al 36703. Burial will follow at Fairlawn Memory Garden, Selma, Al, directed by J.H. Williams & Sons Funeral Home.

The family will have visiting hours at the funeral home Wednesday, July 27, 2011 from 7:00-8:00 p.m.

Mrs. James was preceded in death by her parents, her sons; Jesse, Henry and Walter James, her brothers, Jake Jones and Alfred Davis;  one sister Louise Preston.

She leaves to cherish her memories her loving daughters, Dorothy (the late Willie) Miller (Selma, Al.), Essie Williams (Atlanta, Ga.), Elizabeth Gaillard (Stone Mountain, Ga.), Rosetta Funna (Clarkston, Ga.); one son, Roosevelt (Diane) James (Sacramento, Ca.); three sisters, Cetonia Buford, Elizabeth Ford and Emma Davis all of Selma, Al.; special nieces, Norma Hopson, (Minneanopolis, Mn.), Clarise Minor (Wilmington, De.), Gloria Buford (Selma, Al.); two sisters-n-law, Pauline Davis and Elizabeth Davis ; one brother-n-law, Azel Ford (Selma, Al.); fourteen grandchildren, nineteen great grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
