Memorial services for William Yancey Jernigan, IV will be held July 22, 2011 at 3:00 at First United Methodist Church in Brewton. The Reverend Ed Glaize is officiating. Mr. Jernigan, who died July 20, 2011, was born in Century, Florida on December 8, 1967. He was a graduate of T.R. Miller High School and Auburn University. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Emily Wood and William Yancey Jernigan, III.
He is survived by his wife, Emmie Pilcher Jernigan; three sons, Yancey Jernigan, V, Lyon Alexander Jernigan and Joseph Blake Jernigan; three sisters, Ruth Jernigan Parker of Brewton, Martha Jernigan Scott of Lanett and Elizabeth Jernigan Rodgers of Auburn.
Memorials may be made to the Yancey Jernigan Foundation, P.O. Box 37, Brewton, AL 36427. The Foundation will provide financial and emotional support to families fighting cancer in Escambia County, Alabama. It will strive to educate the public and provide resources to accelerate progress in the fight against cancer. Yancey’s legacy of love and laughter will continue even though the cancer battle rages on with others. Memorials may also be made to the First United Methodist Church in Brewton.
The family will receive visitors 2 hours prior to the service in the sanctuary of the First United Methodist Church.
Williams Funeral Home is directing. Burial will be private.
