A 22-year-old man is clinging to life in a Birmingham hospital after reportedly losing a game of Russian Roulette.
The unidentified man was reportedly playing the “game,” where a person places one bullet in a revolver, spins the chamber and then places the gun to his head and pulls the trigger, when the gun went off, striking him in the temple.
“From what we have been told by witnesses is that he was playing roulette with the gun and it went off,” Selma Chief of Police William T. Riley said. “Right now, we are still working to determine the family of the victim and notifying them.”
The incident took place shortly after 2 p.m. Wednesday in the 500 block of St. Ann Street in the G.W.C. housing development. The revolver used, which was recovered by authorities, is a .38 caliber revolver.
“Medical crews took him immediately to Vaughan Regional Medical Center and then he was airlifted to UAB in Birmingham,” Riley said. “Needless to say, he is in critical, critical condition.”
Further updates on the victims have not been made available.
