A movie theatre ticket can cost $10 or more, but a movie at the second annual Selma Children’s Film Festival is free.
“It’s open for everyone — churches, daycare — just something to get the kids out to do and see,” LaFawnda Watson said. Watson is with the Selma Children’s Museum, which is hosting this three-day event at the Larry D. Striplin Performing Arts Center.
“We’re showing back-to-back children’s films, all (rated) G,” Watson said. To tie in with the ‘Year of Alabama Music’ events, each movie shown will be a musical, including films like “Happy Feet” and “Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.”
Watson said they are expecting a big turnout.
Movies will be shown on Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 10:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Children age 9 and younger must be accompanied by an adult, and all ages are welcome.
Refreshments will also be available.
”You can’t go to a movie without popcorn,” Watson said.
