John Wayne McDaniel, Sr., 69, a resident of Prattville, AL, died peacefully while holding the hands of his loved ones, on Saturday, May 21, 2011, after an extended illness. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, May 25, 2011, at 2:00 p.m., from the Chapel of Prattville Memorial, with Reverend Nick Edwards officiating. Mr. McDaniel honorably served his country in the United States Army Reserves and pursued a professional career with the Norfolk Southern Railroad from which he retired after 40 years. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather who was deeply loved and will be dearly missed. He is survived by his beloved wife of 46 years, Sara Warner McDaniel; one daughter and son-in-law, Sabrina McDaniel and Jon Colburn; one son and daughter-in-law, John Wayne McDaniel, Jr., and Dawn McDaniel; three granddaughters, Bailey Nicole McDaniel, Kailen Diane McDaniel, and Sara Kylee Colburn; his faithful companion, “Polo,” a Jack Russell; three sisters, Bernice Davis, Virginia Lancaster, and Mayble Keating; two brothers, Henry McDaniel and Glenn (Patsy) McDaniel; several extended family members, and many friends. Special appreciation is extended to Scott “Roy” Wynn, Danny Warner, Jose and Lori Perez, Dr. Raghu Mukkamala, and Dr. Robert Avery for their professionalism and exceptional care and compassion, in addition to the nursing staff and techs on Three North at Jackson Hospital and Alacare Home Health and Hospice. The family will receive friends at Prattville Memorial Chapel on Tuesday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m.
