Carrington Allen Pickens, Jr., 19, of Collirene, died Friday, May 20th.  He was born November 13, 1991 in Atmore, AL, the son of Carrington Allen Pickens, Sr. and Karen Howell Hale.  He was a 2010 graduate of Dallas County High School, where he was a member of the football team.

Allen was a wonderful son, grandson, and friend who, at seventeen, moved to “The Hill” as companion to his grandfather.   He was known for being dependable and trustworthy, traits that earned the respect from the entire community.  He was willing to help when asked and asked nothing in return.  Because of his carefree nature, children especially were drawn to him.  Allen’s spirit of generosity has been carried on in death, as his eyes were donated so that the gift of sight may be given.  He attended First United Methodist Church in Benton.

Allen is survived by his mother and stepfather Karen and Rodney Hale of Selma; his brothers Spivey Pickens, Hunter Hale, and Sage Hale, all at home. He also leaves his maternal grandmother, Pamela McRae Howell, of Atmore; and paternal grandfather, Thomas Rex Pickens, Jr. of Collirene.   He is also survived by his girlfriend, Whitney Denson of Valley Grande.
