Erma Trainham DeWitt, age 89, died Sunday, May 15, 2011.

She was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church of Selma and Servitude Sunday School Class.

Mrs. DeWitt is preceded in death by her husband of 50 years: Gerald Burke DeWitt; and daughter in law: Susan Williams DeWitt.

She is survived by her sons: Dickson Burke DeWitt  of Selma, Joseph Karl Hamilton (Jennifer) of Pine Hill, AL; grandchildren: Casey DeWitt Waites (Patrick) of Jones, AL, Wylson Burke DeWitt of Orange Beach, AL, Parker Bryant DeWitt and Katie Alyce DeWitt of Selma, AL; great grandchildren: porter Behr, Walker Burke and Palmer James Waites, all of Jones, AL; nieces: Mrs. “SanSan” Powell (Francis) of Grove Hill, Mamie F. Harris (Darrell) of Reidsville, NC; and a nephew: H.F. Trainham Jr. (Pat) of Reidsville, NC.

Graveside services will be at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 18, 2011 at New Live Oak Cemetery with Rev. Lee Tate officiating and Lawrence Brown-Service Funeral Home directing. Family visitation will be from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 17, 2011 at Lawrence Brown-Service Funeral Home.
