The near perfect weather set the stage for yet another successful Founder’s Day at Valley Grande’s Walking Trail Saturday.

“It’s been great,” said Founder’s Day organizer and Valley Grande City Councilperson Patsy Moore. “We have had a great crowd out here all day. It’s been a real family crowd.”

With 27 vendors that showed up as well as gospel performances, there was something for everyone during the events eighth year.

“We have street art and other things that allow the kids to stay active,” Moore said. “This year we brought in some inflatables and the kids have enjoyed it.”

The gospel performances from local groups from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. gave older park goers a chance to sit and relax.

“It has been really nice,” said Moore. “We have had the Dallas County High School Band and some other really great musicians come here today and, with the weather like it has been, it has just been really perfect.”

Founder’s Day got a boost from the baseball games at the brand new fields and, other than an over-worked parking lot, things ran smoothly for both events.
“It’s just like a big family get together,” Moore said. “And today we are just happy to be able to be together.”
