“It’s a time to build,” said Shelby High, public relations representative for the upcoming Times Square Church service, scheduled for Sunday beginning 5:30 p.m. at the Old National Guard Armory.
Times Square Church, the international mega-church where Carter Conlon is senior pastor, will join with assemblies across the Black Belt to celebrate Jesus and bring healing to the city of Selma. The event is free to the public.
High said local pastors and city leaders are still excited about the event.
“We’ve been on the radio, we’ve done broadcast announcements and we’re trying to get up some new signs in town,” High said. “Times Square pastors came to Selma Monday and Tuesday to talk with some of our pastors. Pastor Conlon just wants to encourage Selma.”
Teresa Conlon, associate pastor and wife to Carter, said she supports what is happening in Selma.
The church’s music ensemble, band and mission staff will also come to Selma. High said the event is all about bringing people together in “oneness.”
“This is all about the Lord moving and building up the body of Christ in Selma,” High said. “Let’s lay aside our differences so we can accomplish what God desires for our city. God has good things planned for Selma and we all want to see Selma transformed.”
