Welford Carl Fondren, age 62, of Oakman, died March 8, 2011, at St. Vincent’s Hospital in Birmingham. Memorial services  were held 11 a.m. Saturday at Springhill Baptist Church in Greensboro with Magnolia Chapel Funeral Home south directing.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Welford and Lillie Fondren of Greensboro; his brother, Gary Fondren of Greensboro; his grandparents, John and Fanny Hood of Marion and James Munford Fondren and Mary Elizabeth Fondren of Greensboro; and his loving wife of 31 years, Lula Belle Fondren.

Survivors include his wife, Diane Fondren; his daughters, Carissa Adams, Colleen Gracey (Chuck), Ashley Seaman (Greg), Mary Dunny (Adam), and Dalila Mathews (Charles); his son, Bradford Fondren (Kristie); his grandchildren, Wilford Fondren, Matt Fondren, Samuel Dunny, Kaitlyn Gracey, Alexis Adams, and Eleanor Dunny; his brothers, Billy Fondren (Marilyn), Larry Fondren, and Steven Fondren (Pam); his sisters, Sue Waguespack (Horace), Peggy Duncan, Shirley Woods (Chuck), Bonnie Gordon (S.G.), Brenda Gray (Bobby), Hazel Winstead (Doug), Rebecca Jarrell (Randy), and Regina Stapleton (Doyle); and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and other family members.
