Selma takes two from Tougaloo

For the second consecutive game, the Selma University Bulldogs (12-5) walked-off with an extra inning victory defeating the Tougaloo College

The Bulldogs won 5-4 in eight innings in the first game of the afternoon doubleheader at Bulldog Field. The Bulldogs completed the doubleheader sweep winning 16-6 in five innings in the finale.

In game one, Bulldog starter Mikkail Johnson struggled early allowing three runs to Tougaloo on two hits, two hit batsmen and an error. SU matched Tougaloo’s output in the home half of the first after Eddie Waters singled and stole second and scored on a Tougaloo error off the bat of CJ Lindsey. Lindsey stole third then scored on a groundout.

The third run crossed the plate after a two out triple by Antonio Rice and single by Tyler Hollis.

After Tougaloo took a 4-3 lead the Bulldogs came back when a  pickoff attempt went into centerfield. The centerfielder’s throw went into the dugout allowing Bubba Robinson to score.

Josh Riddle (3-1) earned the victory.

The Bulldogs took control of the second game early taking a 7-3 lead after two complete innings. SU added three runs in the third and six runs in the fifth walking off after Rice hit a three run homer giving the Bulldogs a run-rule victory in five.

Justin Hollis (4-0) earned the victory in relief of starter Curt Williams
