The National Weather Service in Birmingham has issued a hazardous weather outlook for Dallas and surrounding counties for Tuesday night and Wednesday.
A storm system and associated cold front approaching the state will enter west Alabama after midnight Tuesday, bringing with it heavy rain.
Forecasters say this heavy rain could lead to some localized flash flooding in areas along and west of a line from Uniontown to Birmingham to Oneonta between midnight and 6 a.m. Wednesday.
During the day Wednesday, locally heavy rainfall is expected to move eastward across central Alabama. Storm total rainfall of 2-to-3 inches with locally higher amounts could produce areas of flash flooding and minor river flooding.
Forecasters also say severe thunderstorms, including the threat of damaging winds and isolated tornadoes are possible across central Alabama on Wednesday.
