Roy Lee McLaughlin, III, age 71, went home to be with his Lord on February 5, 2011, following a long illness. He worked for the United Methodist Children’s Home most of his adult life and was a member of Church Street United Methodist Church. Throughout the years, his heart for children and his Christ-like love made a difference in the lives of so many children.

He was preceded in death by his father, Roy Lee McLaughlin, Jr., his mother, Ruby Bain McLaughlin, and step-mother, Marie Whaley McLaughlin.

He is survived by his wife, June Allen McLaughlin, son Jeffrey Lee (Teena) McLaughlin , daughter Kimberly Joyce McLaughlin and grandchildren Lee, Joy and Callie McLaughlin; brothers James Robert (Mary), Donald Bain (Leah), Daniel Warren (Pam); sister, Marinda McLaughlin (Bubba) Dennis; and an aunt, Doris McLaughlin Poole. He is also survived by a sister-in-law, Barbara Allen Faulk, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Graveside services will be held at New Live Oak Cemetery on Tuesday, February 8, 2011 at 11:00 AM. With Reverend Fred Zeigler officiating and Lawrence Brown-Service Funeral Home directing. Pallbearers will be his nephews.

The family would like to express their appreciation to special friends and caretakers, Delores Goldsby, Marian Ross, Sonya Shelton and Cahaba Hospice.
