Selma High completes sweep of Generals

MONTGOMERY — The Selma High Saints overcame a hostile crowd and a gymnasium without heat Friday night in Montgomery to complete a season sweep of Robert E. Lee and improve to 20-6 on the season.

The Saints beat the Generals 72-59 in their final road game of the season. Selma will wrapup the regular season Tuesday at home when they welcome Central-Hayneville.

“We played real well tonight. It was a tough road game in a tough environment,” Selma head coach Woodie Jackson said. “It was a good win.”

Senior Charles Eaton led the Saints with 25 points. Kerry Mitchell added a double-double for the Saints, pouring in 15 points with 10 rebounds.

Tarvaska Rivers added nine points and five assists. Malcolm Riley chipped in eight points and nine rebounds, while Darion Alexander came off the bench to contribute seven points and four rebounds.

The Lady Saints also came away with a win in Montgomery, beating Robert E. Lee 53-40.

Selma (24-3) will play their last game at home next Tuesday against Central-Hayneville High School.
