Porter’s return good for the community

In interpersonal relationships, sometimes friends move away from one another, but stay in touch, then fate brings them back together and they pick up that friendship where it left off like nothing ever happened.

So, it goes with the return of Bill Porter as CEO of the Selma-Dallas County YMCA. Porter is a product of the YMCA and nearly every program offered as he grew up here in Selma and Dallas County.

The YMCA provided summertime work as Porter went off to Auburn for his education.

Porter loves the Y. He believes in it and its programs.

Folks here are comfortable with Porter. After all, he’s an old friend — that’s evidenced from the folks who welcomed him back as he walked through the YMCA building the other day.

It’s like the old friends.

Porter claims his return as CEO of the Y is a “dream come true “ for him.

Porter’s return is likely as good for the community as it is for him. After all, the Y needs some loving hands and someone who believes in the programs and people.

That’s Bill Porter.

Welcome home, Bill.
