King, Sewell exchange wedding vows

Miss Ruth Emilee King and Mr. Christopher Lawrence Sewell were married in Selma, Alabama, Saturday, July 24th, at Elkdale Baptist Church at three o’clock in the afternoon. Rev. Wesley Johnson, brother-in-law of the bride, and Rev. Micah Gandy performed the ceremony. Rev. Bob Frazer and Rev. Cory Horton also assisted in the ceremony

Music was provided by Mrs. Debbie Anderson, organist. Soloists included Mrs. Meredith King Crocker, Rev. Micah Gandy, Mrs.

Parents of the bride are Mr. and Mrs. Pete W. King of Hamburg, Alabama.

Parents of the groom are Mr. and Mrs. Mark Sewell of Burnsville, Alabama.

Grandparents of the bride are Mr. and Mrs. Clarence M. King of Marion Junction, Alabama and the late Mr. and Mrs. John H. Lee of Marion, Alabama.

Paternal grandparents of the groom are Mrs. Mabel Sewell of Burnsville and the late Mr. Oliver Sewell. Maternal grandparents are Mr. Derrell D. Lawrence of Burnsville and the late Mrs. Linda B. Lawrence.

The bride, given in marriage by her father, was dressed in a formal satin gown draped and pleated in a drop waist style. The strapless bodice was accented with appliqués of pearls and sequins. The two-tiered fingertip veil was edged in embroidery. Her bouquet was a beautiful mixture of red gerber daisies, miniature yellow calla lilies and orange lilies.

Miss Mackenzie Crocker, niece of the bride, was the flower girl. Miss Crocker was dressed in a sleeveless princess style dress with satin bodice and chiffon layered skirt. The bodice was accented by a lilac ribbon sash.

Junior bridesmaids were Caitlyn Lawrence, cousin of the groom, Kaitlyn Crocker and Abigail Johnson, nieces of the bride. They wore street-length sheath dresses in varying shades of lilac.

Honor attendants were Jessica King Johnson of South Asia and Meredith King Crocker of Warrior, Alabama, sisters of the bride. Bridesmaids were Rhonda Caver Barnes of Burnsville, Misty Jones of Clanton, Alabama, Melissa Nicholas Cooper of Prattville, Alabama, Stacy Miller of Selma and Maegan Lambert of Selma. The attendants were dressed in tangerine street-length dresses of polished cotton sateen in varying styles. They carried bouquets of miniature yellow calla lilies.

The ring bearer was Zec Johnson, nephew of the bride. Junior groomsmen were Daniel and Jeremiah Johnson and C.J. Crocker, nephews of the bride.

Ushers were Ben Fleming of Orange Beach, Alabama and Adam Brown of Selma.

Groomsmen were Jason Longcrier of Tuscaloosa, Alabama, Larry Cooper of Prattville, Cody Smitherman of Moundville, Alabama, Kevin Lawrence of Burnsville and Spence Roe of Plantersville, Alabama.

Mr. Mark Lawrence, father of the groom, served as Best Man.

The reception was held at the Selma Country Club. The couple is now at home in Mobile, Alabama.

Mrs. Cheri Miley Wright directed the wedding.
