Alabama places Top 10 of states with worst bug problems

ST. LOUIS, MO. — Alabama placed eighth in a list of states with the worst bug infestation problems in a national survey sponsored by BASF Pest Control Solutions.

Florida led the Top 10 as ranked by homeowners for the worst infestations of ants, termites and cockroaches. Louisiana and Texas were runners-up.

In the recent telephone survey about 90 percent of homeowners said they were plagued by insects. Ants were the most common insect annoyance reported by homeowners. Nearly 60 percent of those questioned said ants were “very likely” or “somewhat likely” to infest their homes.

The 10 overall buggiest states in order are: Florida, Louisiana, Texas, California, Georgia, New York, Mississippi, Alabama, Missouri and South Carolina.
