If a picture is worth a thousand words, then the Selma Arts Guild is filled with several novels.
Each month the guild displays a new, featured artist, but for June, the Selma Arts Guild Gallery houses a variety of art from many different artists.
“This month is our summer show,” said Louella Clements- Secretary of the Selma Arts Guild. “So everyone participates in the summer show.”
Clements said Donna Pickens judged pieces in their individual styles like watercolor, 3-D art and acrylics.
“I think that the show has a good variety of art,” said Cam Walker, the treasurer of the guild. “We hope that even more people will come to see it.”
Last Sunday, the guild held a reception to open the summer show and introduce newest pieces to the public.
“We had a pretty good attendance,” said Cam Walker. “We were afraid we weren’t going to have as many people attend, but it was good.”
Walker said because of the show, the Gallery, which is normally open from noon to 4 p.m. Friday and Saturday, also will be open Wednesday and Thursday from noon to 4 p.m.
Clements said admission to the Gallery was free during business hours.
“Anyone who wants to come in while the open sign is out needs to come in,” said Clements. “We want everyone to come in and see all of the work and hopefully buy some pieces that they like.”
