Chase winds up in arrest
A Selma man led police officers on a chase before he was apprehended.
Johnny L. Pettway, 25, is charged with attempted to elude, possession of marijuana, second degree, and on a warrant for driving with a suspended license.
Pettway was arrested and taken to the Dallas County Jail, where he was released Monday after posting $2,000 in bonds.
Selma Police Department Administrative Division Commander Sgt. Doug Stewart said, officers saw a vehicle run a stop sign at Gary Avenue and Lapsley Street on Monday and attempted to stop the driver. That’s when the chase began.
“After a short vehicle pursuit the offender jumped out of his vehicle and fled on foot,” Stewart said. “He was apprehended moments later.”
Officers checked the vehicle and found what is believed to be marijuana in plain view inside the vehicle, Stewart said.
