Pritchett wins ‘Idol’

With rain already postponing the event last week and more on Saturday, management decided to bring “Taylorville Idol” indoors.
“It worked out well,” said Linda Coleman, one of the assistant managers at Taylorville “We had been listening to the weather this morning and didn’t know how bad it would be, but it turned out very good inside.”
The contest featured five singers trying to get the judges attention with their voices.
In the end, it was Marshey Prichett that took home the first prize of a $50 gift card.
“I’m real excited about winning,” said Prichett. “I’m planning on taking the gift card and using it when I go to school at Alabama A&M this fall.”
Prichett said that she has always loved to sing and has been doing it as long as she could remember.
“My mom said that I started singing around the house when I was like 5,” Prichett said. “So I guess I have been doing it ever since.”
Coleman said the small numbers of contestants was understandable due to the postponement.
“We had more that signed up, but some had to drop out because of the rain last week.”
Taylorville will host Taylorville Best-On Competition starting today at 3 p.m.
The competition will be based off of Black Entertainment’s Television’s “Sunday Best” and will run every Sunday during June.
