PLANTERSVILLE — Deandre McIntyre ran for 81 yards and two touchdowns and Dallas County High School took a 34-0 win over Verbena on Thursday night in the teams’ psring football game.
The Hornets scored on a interception return for a touchdown under two minutes into the game and never looked back.
Anthony Finny ran for 78 yards and Brandon Jackson added 32 more as several Hornet running backs competed for the starting job.
Dallas County coach darryl Burns said he will likely use a committee approach, but Brandon Harvell will likely get the bulk of the touches.
“Harvell is the real deal,” Burns said. “They will all play, but he will definitely get his share.”
Harvell opened the second half with a 70-yard touchdown run and Burns said that play was what set him apart.
Meymiya Harrell paced the Hornets defense with six tackles and was a force in the backfield early in the game.
He provided the pressure that led to the interception return for the Hornets’ first score.
