DCHS softball heads to tourney

On Friday the Dallas County High School girls’ softball team will venture to Gulf Shores to play in the regional tournament on the way to the 4A state crown.
This team has lost only one game this season. The girls have worked hard together and helped one another throughout the season.
At 9:30 a.m. Friday, DCHS will meet Andalusia on the diamond. Win or lose, they’ll advance to another game against either UMS-Wright Prep or Ashford.
These girls have had to balance classes, tests and most importantly, the juniors and seniors on this team are missing their prom night to participate in this tournament.
Coach Ed Miller said he gave the girls the opportunity to go to the prom Friday night, but nobody took it.
That’s sacrifice.
Please join The Selma Times-Journal in congratulating this young women, who set an example for those in the grades below them and not just in sportsmanship, but in the ability to balance and set priorities.
Best of luck, DCHS softball team.
