Rosay J. Butler, Jr. of Selma died of a gunshot wound Tuesday at Vaughan Regional Medical Center.

Sgt. Doug Stewart, administrative division commander for the Selma Police Department, said several men fired guns into a residence in the 1400 block of Church Street about 9 p.m. Tuesday.

One of the stray bullets struck Rosay and killed him.

Lewis is 23 years old. He was sought by police in 2009 for assault, first-degree, in a shooting incident.

Harris is described as in his early-to-mid-20s.

Anyone with information on this shooting is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 877-3530. Information is sought and the caller will not be identified. The caller may be eligible for a $1,000 cash reward, according to Stewart.

Shortly after the reported shooting on Church Street, a 46-year-old female reported she heard horns blowing outside her residence in the 200 block of Furniss Avenue.

“She looked out and saw several vehicles in front of her home. A male subject exited one of the vehicles and began shooting,” Stewart said. “Several bullets struck her vehicle and home.”

Police are unsure at this time if this incident is in any way related to the shooting death of Rosay.
