Taylorville celebrates first anniversary

One year ago, Taylorville Family Entertainment Center opened its doors.

Now, to celebrate the one-year anniversary of the facility, they are hosting a birthday party — for themselves.

Dr. Bruce Taylor and the staff of Taylorville invite the community to the Taylorville facility on Highway 80 East on Saturday for a celebration from noon until midnight. Raffle prizes, barbeque, face painting, birthday cake-off and a bonfire are all scheduled.

Taylorville has served as more than just a place for family fun.

The company also supports education by holding fundraisers for schools or events such as a science-based laser tag afternoon, where students learn the mechanics of the laser devices.

“While this is a business, at the same time we wanted to incorporate the theme of going to high school and college in our morals and functions,” Taylor said.

In the upcoming year, Taylor plans to expand the facility to also encompass the 20 acres behind the current location. It will also have an outdoor concert area and a 6,000 sq. ft. multipurpose facility for banquets or large meetings.

“It’s to become more of an entertainment go-to spot for the community,” Taylor said.
