Thomasville sweeps Southside in playoffs

THOMASVILLE — Southside High School suffered a 4-0 loss and a 15-1 loss to Thomasville on Friday and saw its season end in the first round of the AHSAA Class 4A playoffs.

“It might not have been the outcome we wanted, buty we still had a positive season,” Southside coahc LaMorris Jones said. “We just hope to keep progressing and taking the next step.”

The Panthers had runners on second and third twice in the first game with a chance to take the lead, but couldn’t geta timely hit.

“I felt like with our pitching and defense we could keep it close,” Jones said. “We’ve got a lot of young guys, and we just couldn’t get the bats around. We’re still trying to build a winning program, and we’ve ahead of schedule.”

Francis Marion also got swept by Zion Chapel, 13-0 and 14-3.
