Dallas County Schools reading coaches and ArtsRevive need your help every day until April 30. Both organizations are contestants for Pepsi Refresh Grants in the amounts of $250,000 and $50,000 respectively. The only way these groups will be awarded the grants is through electronic voting on the Pepsi Refresh website.

The Dallas County reading coaches would like to use the funding to purchase materials, gain more tutors, offer students motivational incentives for reading and provide teachers with substitutes so they can attend consultation sessions to improve professional development of reading instruction and programming.

ArtsRevive would like to use the funding to continue to spruce up the Carneal building at the corner of Water Avenue and Church Street.

Dallas County reading coaches have already moved up to ranking 61. Prior to April 7, they were ranked 131. Clearly, the Selma community is making a difference. Your vote matters, and your votes are needed for both of these projects each day.

Only the top two highest voting recipients will be finalists for the $250,000 grant, and the top 10 voting recipients will be finalists for the $50,000 grant.

Projects compete for grants in the amounts of up to 10 grants at the $5,000 level, 10 grants at the $25,000 level, 10 grants at the $50,000 level and 2 grants at the $250,000 level in categories of health, arts & culture, food & shelter, the planet, neighborhoods and education.
