SELMA — The opening ceremony for the City of Selma youth baseball and softball leagues was canceled Thursday night due to muddy conditions at Memorial Stadium.

Tracy Williams, recreation specialist, said the decision was made in the interest of safety.

The ceremony will not be rescheduled.

Members of each team will introduced individually at their first game.
