Hands-on approach to history

We’re fortunate here in Selma to live in a place that recognizes its history, from the Civil War to the civil rights movement.

We have an opportunity this Saturday to help preserve some of that treasured history that pumps tourism dollars into our economy and tells the story of all of us to those interested in stopping by.

The folks at Old Cahawba have scheduled a work day to go along with the national treasures day Saturday beginning at 9 a.m.

All you have to do is bring a pair of gloves, wear some work clothes and make sure you have on boots or sturdy shoes.

The object of this work session is Castle Morgan, where the Confederacy held captive Union soldiers during the Civil War.

It’s time to get out in the sunshine and give some sweat equity to our history.

See you at Old Cahawba.
