Selma police officers are investigating an early Sunday morning shooting that resulted in the death of a Selma man.
Selma police responded to a call of “shots fired” around the 1100 block of Churchill Ave. at 1 a.m.
Sgt. Doug Stewart, administrative division commander, Selma Police Department, said, “It appears two male subjects fired several shots at each other, which has lead to the death of one of the shooters, a 25-year-old male.”
The other individual involved in the shooting is listed as in serious condition at a hospital in Montgomery.
“Police are investigating this shooting and are speaking with all witnesses to determine the reason behind the shooting,” Stewart said.
The police department will not identify anyone involved in the shooting because it is an ongoing investigation.
However, Maurice Valdez Pullom, 25, of Selma, has been identified by people who say they were witnesses at the scene as having died as a result of a gunshot wound.
The other individual was identified by witnesses at the scene as from Orrville.
