SELMA — Cassie Daniels walked the second Selma batter she faced and struck out the other 12 in a four-inning 15-0 no-hit win for Dallas County High School.

The Hornets scored eight runs in the first inning after Selma dropped a fly ball with two outs. Saints coach Jermel Bell said that’s when his team gave up.

“We just went down from there,” Bell said. “We’ve got to learn how to compete.”

Dallas County (10-1) added two more runs in the second a four in the third. The Hornets had the bases loaded but a groundball to shortstop ended the inning before the 15th run could score, ensuring a fourth inning.

Avery Mott scored on a single by Kendall Veach in the fourth for the 15th run.

The win follows an 18-0 beating of Southside High School on Thursday, but Hornets coach Ed Miller said he isn’t worried about overconfidence.

“Their heads are down to earth,” Miller said. “They take every at-bat seriously. We’ve got two players out who we hope to get back next week and they know there are two people that might not have a position anymore.”
