The snow is expected to taper off from west to east late Friday afternoon.

At press time forecasters said accumulation of 1-to-3 inches is possible in the Black Belt. Low temperatures Thursday evening should be in the mid-20s with afternoon highs Friday near 40. Forecasters say its likely motorists will encounter some slick spots on roadways Friday.

No closings or cancellations were reported at press time, according to Dallas County EMA interim Director Rhonda Abbott.
