FOR AREAS GENERALLY EAST OF INTERSTATE 65 AND NORTH OF INTERSTATE
20…THERE WILL BE A POSSIBILITY OF SNOW AND SLEET ACCUMULATION OF
AROUND ONE QUARTER INCH THROUGH 6 PM. SOME ISOLATED SLICK ROADWAYS
WILL DEVELOP. THE SNOW WILL TAPER OFF DURING THE EVENING HOURS. FOR
ALL OTHER AREAS…A RAIN/SLEET AND SNOW MIX IS POSSIBLE WITH
NO ACCUMULATION EXPECTED.
A STRONG COLD FRONT MOVES THROUGH CENTRAL ALABAMA TONIGHT AND
TEMPERATURES WILL PLUMMET. OVERNIGHT LOW TEMPERATURES WILL
GENERALLY RANGE FROM 12 DEGREE NORTHWEST TO 23 DEGREES SOUTHEAST.
TO PREVENT FREEZING AND POSSIBLE BURSTING OF OUTDOOR WATER PIPES…
PIPES SHOULD BE WRAPPED…DRAINED…OR ALLOWED TO DRIP SLOWLY. THOSE
THAT HAVE IN-GROUND SPRINKLER SYSTEMS SHOULD DRAIN THEIR SYSTEMS…OR
COVER ANY ABOVE-GROUND PIPES TO PROTECT THEM FROM FREEZING.
ANY WATER THAT REMAINS ON AREA ROADWAYS OVERNIGHT WILL FREEZE. THERE
IS A CHANCE OF SOME BLACK ICE AND ANYONE TRAVELING OVERNIGHT WILL
NEED TO EXERCISE EXTRA CAUTION.
