Morgan Academy’s girls posted their first victory of the young roundball season Tuesday by defeating Monroe Academy 52-10.

Ann Woodruff and April Clark shared top scoring honors for Morgan with 12 points each.

Morgan Coach Robert Andress said he played all 12 on the team. “Just about everybody scored,” he said.

Monroe’s high scorer was Avery King with four points.

“This is the first game we’ve won,” Andress said. “We played a little better. We’re hoping to improve as the season goes on.”

Morgan’s girls team (1-3) will play again in their opening game of the Southern Tournament in Greensboro Friday. The scheduled game is at 3:30 p.m. against Pickens (5-1).
