Cameras, maybe

SELMA — The city council here may allow an automated red light enforcement company to temporarily place cameras on signal lights around town to analyze if the city needs the devices.

Mayor George Evans told the Selma City Council Public Safety Committee Thursday the company LaserCraft would come in the city at no charge, install the cameras and perform the analysis.

Council member Dr. Monica Newton, who is not a member of the committee but attended the meeting, liked the idea.

The only member of the committee present, Council member Susan Keith, said Newton could make the recommendation to the full council Tuesday when it meets again.
