Mr. Loyd R. Champion, age 74, of Centreville, died on Tuesday, Oct. 27, 2009 at his residence. Funeral services will be Thursday, Oct. 29, 2009 at 10 AM at Bethlehem Baptist Church. Burial in Harris Cemetery with Rev. Robert Lovelady and Rev. Mike Allen officiating. Visitation was Wednesday, October 28, 2009 at Calvary Baptist Church from 6 to 8 PM with Rockco Funeral Home directing. Mr. Champion was a long time pastor of rural churches in South Central Alabama.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Bettye Taylor Champion of Centreville; son, Eddie Champion(Terri) of Selma; daughter, Diane Champion of Centreville; granddaughter, Crystal Daniels(Josh) of Leeds; grandson, Mark Champion(Tammy) of Corner; grandson, Eric Champion(Courtney) of Winter Park, FL; 2 great grandson’s, Aarron and Dalton and a host of nieces, nephews and in-laws.
Preceded in death by his parents, Oscar &Cora Champion; sons, David &Mike Champion and 4 brothers.
Pallbearers, Luther Jones, Danny Jones, Glen Jones, Roy Terry, Jim Burt, Joe Mann and Ricky Jones.
