Southside falls to Calera

CALERA — Calera piled up 561 yards in total offense to roll past Southside 61-26 Friday night.
The Eagles manhandled Southside for a 34-0 lead in the first half before Southside got on the board with Alfred Davis’ 4-yard run.
Southside scored again in the third quarter with a 6-yard pass from Lewis to Earl Bender. The same combination connected for the PAT, but Calera had built up a 55-14 margin by that time.
Southside ended its scoring in the fourth quarter on a 1-yard run by Davis and a 41-yard scamper by Ladarious Acoff.
Davis led all Southside rushers with 93 yards, followed by Acoff with 80. Davis was 11 of 15 passing with one TD and one interception. Bender had six receptions for 80 yards and one touchdown.
