ORRVILLE — Keith senior running back/linebacker Dwan Lewis scored five touchdowns — four rushing and one on defense — to lead the Bears to a 52-28 victory over Francis Marion on Friday.
The victory earned Keith a berth in the Class 2A Region 3 playoffs, setting up a trip to play Region 4 leader Pickens County (9-0) on Nov. 6.
Keith coach Harry Crum said his team had more than 400 yards rushing. In that total were TDs from Lewis (four) and Gerald Matthews (two). Lewis also scooped up a fumble and returned it 25 yards for a touchdown.
Matthews also had a passing TD from Jeremy Crum and Rodney Ellis had an interception and fumble recovery.
Francis Marion scored on passes of 35 and 40 yards from Jarrion Murphy to JaMarcus Billingsley, a Radje Turner a fumbled kickoff return that he returned and Courtney Whitt’s 30-yard run.
“We made too many mistakes,” said Coach Javaris Jackson of Francis Marion (1-8). “And the defense just didn’t show up.”
He was pleased, however, with his Rams’ offensive production.
“We switched to a new offense a couple of weeks ago and seems to have helped us,” Jackson said. “That’s the most points we’ve scored this season.”
Keith ends its regular season Friday with homecoming against Calhoun, while Francis Marion is at Choctaw County
