SELMA — The East Selma Fish Pond will have a fall schedule this year, Selma Parks and Recreation executive director Elton Reece announced Friday.

“When we had the pond open during the summer, it was too hot for some of the older citizens to fish,” Reece said. “So this will be much more pleasant during October and early November.”

The pond will be open starting Oct. 20 and will close after the Nov. 7 fishing.

“We stocked the pond with 3,000 pounds of catfish,” Reece said. “And we’ve probably got about half of that still in here.”

Anglers 55 years old and older will be able to fish from 7 to 11 a.m. on Oct. 20, 27 and Nov. 3. All ages can fish from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Oct. 24, 31 and Nov. 7.

All anglers must have a valid Alabama fishing license, and all seniors must have some proof of age.
