Ufomadu runs for school board

SELMA — Dr. Udo F. Ufomadu has announced his candidacy for the District 4 seat on the Selma City School Board in the Oct. 27 election.

Ufomadu is a member of the school board.

He said he is a dedicated member who believes that the community is capable of having a distinguished school system with an enviable quality of education.

Ufomadu said he will continue to support ideas and recommendations that will ensure the school system is fiscally healthy.

“We cannot continue to spend more than we can afford,” he said. “With the enrollment dropping and with the likelihood that we may face 8 percent proration next school year, we must move swiftly to prioritize through effective consolidations and managing our human and other resources to the point of efficacy.

“The fact that we are going to build a new school, which I have always supported, demands that we become fiscally responsible, knowing very well that a new school will cost us a lot of money.”

Ufomadu said he will work hard to see the board establishes a good relationship between the parents and the school board.

“Sincerely, we have to be exceedingly willing and persistent in our efforts to have an exceptional education for all of our children, and these endeavors definitely go beyond Oct. 27, 2009,” he said.

Ufomadu earned a doctorate in business administration, a master’s in educational administration and supervision, an additional 30 quarter hours of master’s courses in personnel management and a bachelor’s in business administration. He has extensive training in business and management courses.

Ufomadu is founder of Ufomadu Consulting and Publishing. He is a member of the Partnership for Food Safety Education. He has worked in the food safety inspection profession for 18 years.

Ufomadu has two children who have graduated from Selma City Schools and two children presently attending schools in the system.
