MONTGOMERY — Lilly Ledbetter is supporting Democratic U.S. Rep. Artur Davis for governor of Alabama.

Ledbetter announced her endorsement Monday in a video statement. She said Davis has the vision, grit and determination to transform Alabama’s economy.

Ledbetter is the Jacksonville woman whose struggle for equality for women in the workplace led Congress to pass the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Equity Act. The act was the first major piece of legislation signed into law by President Barack Obama.

Davis was the only Alabama congressman who voted for the Ledbetter act.
