CAMDEN — Lowndes Academy soundly defeated Abbeville Christian Academy 50-8 Friday night for its second victory.

Lowndes had a total of 325 yards rushing with Brandon Pate leading the way. He amassed 168 yards on 14 carries with four touchdowns. Three of his touchdowns were in the first quarter alone and the last occurred in the third.

Anderson Casey, Toby King and Christian Kilpatrick also added six to the scoreboard. Kilpatrick earned his touchdown on an interception. Garrett Headly and Chance Ward also made an interception.

Richard Pate helped add points to the total when he made a 30 yard field goal. Hank Macintosh attempted three passes and complete two for 30 yards.

Tyler Bosman made eight tackles and Kilpatrick made six in addition to his scoring interception.

Jordan Granthum rounded out the top defensive players with four tackles and one sack.

Lowndes will be on the road next week at Edgewood.

Dallas County 18

PLANTERSVILLE — Dallas County Hornets suffered a tough loss in a home opener at the hands of West Blocton.

The first quarter ended roughly with West Blocton leading 20-0. Dallas County held in the second quarter and scored a touchdown.

In the third quarter West Blocton put up another six and Dallas County pulled the score closer with 12 more points making it 26-18 at the close.

The Hornets had 279 yards rushing with Anthony Finnies collecting six carries for 50 yards.

Justin Moore scored on a touchdown of 3 yards and Justin MacAfee scored from 3 yards out.

Deandre MacIntyre scored a touchdown and had three carries for 107 yards.

Branden Harvel had five tackles and two assists and Brandon Jackson had two tackles and two fumble recoveries.

MacArthur Jemison had four tackles and one sack.

JACKSON — The Meadowview Christian School Trojans dropped their second game of the year Friday with a 14-12 loss to Jackson Academy.

Meadowview head coach Kenny Strong said details were not available.
