ALABAMA FOR LATE TONIGHT THROUGH MID MORNING MONDAY…

THIS LOCAL STATEMENT PROVIDES IMPORTANT INFORMATION AND

RECOMMENDED ACTIONS FOR PEOPLE IN SELECT LOCATIONS WITHIN CENTRAL

ALABAMA.

.WATCHES/WARNINGS…

A TROPICAL STORM WIND WARNING IS IN EFFECT FOR THE FOLLOWING

LOCATIONS…DALLAS…LOWNDES…MONTGOMERY AND PIKE.

A WARNING MEANS THAT THE STATED CONDITIONS ARE EXPECTED WITHIN

THE NEXT 24 HOURS FOR THE SPECIFIED AREAS.

.STORM INFORMATION…

AT 1 PM CDT…THE CENTER OF TROPICAL STORM CLAUDETTE WAS LOCATED

NEAR LATITUDE 29.1 NORTH…LONGITUDE 85.1 WEST…OR ABOUT

40 MILES SOUTH OF APALACHICOLA FLORIDA. THIS IS ABOUT 320 MILES

SOUTH-SOUTHEAST OF BIRMINGHAM AL…OR ABOUT 230 MILES

SOUTH-SOUTHEAST OF MONTGOMERY AL. STORM MOTION WAS TO THE

NORTHWEST NEAR 14 MPH. MAXIMUM SUSTAINED WINDS HAVE INCREASED TO

NEAR 50 MPH…WITH HIGHER GUSTS. SOME ADDITIONAL STRENGTHENING IS

POSSIBLE PRIOR TO LANDFALL.

.SITUATION OVERVIEW…

TROPICAL STORM CLAUDETTE WILL MOVE INTO CENTRAL ALABAMA LATE

TONIGHT AND WILL HAVE A VERY SMALL HIGH WIND CORE. TROPICAL STORM

FORCE WINDS WILL BE POSSIBLE AFTER MIDNIGHT THROUGH MID MORNING AS

THE CENTER OF THE STORM MOVES NORTHWEST THROUGH CENTRAL ALABAMA.

GUSTY WINDS MAY CAUSE SOME WEAK TREES TO FALL AND POWER LINES MAY

BE AFFECTED. HEAVY RAIN BANDS WILL BE POSSIBLE FROM 1 TO 3 INCHES

ACROSS THE AREA. ISOLATED LOCALIZED FLOODING IS POSSIBLE. ISOLATED

WEAK TORNADOES ARE POSSIBLE IN THE NORTH AND EAST OUTER BANDS WELL

AHEAD OF THE STORM.
