KINGSTON, Tenn. (AP) — Two rail cars waiting to load coal ash at a massive spill site in Tennessee have been returned to the tracks after a minor derailment.
Tennessee Valley Authority officials say the empty cars derailed Wednesday evening as they were being backed into the Kingston Fossil Plant. There were no injuries and emergency response officials were notified.
The cars were back on the tracks by Thursday morning, a local road was reopened and track repairs were continuing. TVA is using trains to haul millions of tons of coal ash from a huge spill at the Kingston plant last December to a landfill in Alabama.
